We are seeking a visionary Director of Communications to lead enterprise-wide corporate communications strategy, executive messaging, media engagement, crisis communications governance, and ESG narrative development, fully remote within the United States.
This is not a public relations coordination role. This is a strategic enterprise reputation mandate.
Job Function
The Director of Communications will architect and oversee national communications strategy across corporate affairs, media relations, executive positioning, internal communications, ESG storytelling, and stakeholder engagement.
This leader ensures message discipline, reputational resilience, and narrative alignment across all enterprise channels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise communications strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives
Lead executive messaging, speechwriting, and public positioning for the CEO and senior leadership
Oversee media relations, press strategy, and thought leadership initiatives
Manage crisis communications planning and rapid-response governance
Align ESG and sustainability messaging with investor and regulatory expectations
Guide brand narrative consistency across digital, investor, and public channels
Strengthen internal communications frameworks supporting distributed workforce alignment
Oversee public affairs engagement related to federal and state energy policy
Develop communication KPIs measuring reputation impact and stakeholder engagement
Manage agency partnerships and communications budget oversight
Present reputational risk assessments and media strategy updates to executive leadership
Lead distributed communications and corporate affairs teams
Strategic Support
Advise CEO and executive leadership on reputation risk and narrative positioning
Support capital raises and institutional investor communications
Contribute to M&A communications planning and integration strategy
Align messaging with federal policy engagement and sustainability commitments
Strengthen employer brand positioning in competitive talent markets
Guide digital transformation initiatives in enterprise communications infrastructure
Job Qualifications and Requirements
15+ years of progressive corporate communications leadership experience
7+ years within renewable energy, infrastructure, public policy, or regulated industries
Proven experience managing executive-level communications and media strategy
Strong expertise in crisis communications and reputational risk mitigation
Experience engaging institutional investors and regulatory stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to shape public narrative in complex industries
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Communications, Public Affairs, or Business preferred

Compensation & Benefits
Total Executive Compensation Package: $300,000 – $435,000 USD
